Gillian Ritcey, Fellow
Gillian Ritcey (MA) recently moved back east to her hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia to become the Managing Director of the Healthy Populations Institute (HPI) at Dalhousie University. Gillian is an alumnus of Dalhousie, graduating with a Master’s in Public Administration. After completing her degree, Gillian moved to Toronto where she worked in the Ontario health system in various capacities for almost ten years; at the Health Council of Canada, the Ontario Medical Association and the majority of her career at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto. At IHPME, Gillian was the Director of the Ontario provincial quality improvement-training program (IDEAS) and most recently was the Director of Continuing Professional Education to ensure that health system professionals had access to well-crafted and delivered continuing education that keeps pace with the current standards in the field. During this time, she trained in sustainable quality improvement with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare in the UK and was a Program Lead in IHPME’s Centre for Sustainable Health Systems. She is passionate about building the capacity of health systems to fulfill their core objective of promoting health and health equity.
